Turība University congratulates 1,000th international student at the winter graduation ceremony
On 13 December, the Winter Graduation Ceremony of Turība University took place, during which 326 new professionals joined the community of graduates. Most graduates obtained a master’s degree, while four completed doctoral studies.
During the ceremony, the 19,000th graduate of Turība University, the 1,000th international student, the 2,000th graduate of the master’s programme in Business Administration, as well as seven recipients of the “Lecturer of the Year 2025/2026 Academic Year” award were honored.
Considering the large number of graduates and to create a festive and memorable celebration for graduates and their guests, three graduation ceremonies were organized. The first diplomas were awarded to bachelor’s and master’s programme graduates from the English study programmes. This was followed by graduates of short-cycle (college-level) study programmes in both Latvian and English, while the celebrations concluded with graduates of doctoral programmes in Latvian and English, as well as master’s and bachelor’s programme graduates from the study programmes in Latvian.
A special moment was dedicated to four doctoral graduates of the Faculty of Business Administration – Dace Šakena, Annemarija Šperliņa, Ketevan Rizhamadze, and Charles Nnamdi Ohanyelu – who joined Turība’s community of 47 doctoral degree holders. The new doctors completed doctoral study programmes in “Communication Management”, “Business Administration”, and “Management Science”.
It should be emphasized that this winter graduation ceremony was particularly special for three graduates. The 1,000th international graduate, Polina Darmoroz from Ukraine, was honoured, as well as the 19,000th graduate of Turība University of Business Administration – Daniels Buko, who completed the master’s programme in “Public Administration”. A ceremonial tribute was also paid to the 2,000th graduate of the master’s programme in Business Administration, Raul Carrasco Santiago from Mexico.
The largest number of graduates at the winter graduation ceremony that year came from the Faculty of Business Administration, which was completed by 229 students. The Faculty of Law welcomed 78 new specialists. The Faculty of International Tourism was completed by 15 graduates, while four students graduated from the Faculty of Information Technology.
In total, 91 international students completed their studies at Turība University that year – two graduated from doctoral programmes, 85 from master’s programmes, and four from bachelor’s programmes. International students most frequently chose the following master’s programmes: “Business Psychology and Human Resource Management”, “Strategic Communication Management”, “Strategic Tourism Management”, and “Business Administration”.
Graduates of the winter ceremony represented 10 countries – Latvia, Ukraine, Italy, Mexico, Georgia, India, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, as well as the first graduate from South Korea. Overall, Turība University has been graduated by students from 41 different countries worldwide.
