Turiba University is actively expanding its international cooperation, initiating, developing, and implementing various local, national, and international projects.

We believe that the development of the University is inconceivable without innovative initiatives, the creation of new teaching approaches and methods, and without international collaboration. To prepare high-quality new professionals, it is essential for our university to provide opportunities for learning in an international environment, meeting lecturers, and professionals from around the world. Therefore, we realize international projects in collaboration with universities and partners worldwide.

Through these projects, we have developed new and innovative educational resources and tools, published books, organized international conferences, exchange trips, study visits, summer schools, and other activities.

NORDPLUS Intensive course "Sustainable mindset in Entrepreneurship" 2025

Sustainable development and sustainable mindsets are particularly relevant in the context of the European Green Deal, which aims to make the European Union climate neutral by 2050. Understanding sustainability and the principles of sustainable business is essential to mitigate climate change and promote responsible economic growth. Companies that follow sustainability principles strengthen their reputation and competitiveness, are able to adapt to increasing legislative and social requirements, and create long-term value for both business and society as a whole. That is why Turība University, in cooperation with Lapland University of Applied Sciences and Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, Laurea University of Applied Sciences, Turku University in Finland and the Lithuanian Business College in Lithuania, implemented the NORDPLUS Intensive Course on Sustainable Mindset in Entrepreneurship in August 2025.

From August 11 to 21, Turiba University in Riga welcomed 30 students from Latvia, Lithuania and Finland, who spent two weeks learning new skills in sustainable business creation and development. This course gave partners the opportunity to train students in a very intensive format, providing in-depth knowledge.

The course provided an insight into topics such as analytical and creative thinking, business idea generation, design thinking, sustainable entrepreneurship and circular economy, sustainability and legal design, sustainable leadership, and green and blue project management.

During the intensive course, students participated in lectures, practical classes, discussions with industry professionals and specialists, and study visits. Lecturers from all three countries participated in the course. This course provided an excellent opportunity for students and lecturers from Latvia, Lithuania and Finland to learn and work in an international environment.

Course dates: 11-21 August 2025.

Student feedback on the intensive course:

  • I learned how deeply sustainability can be integrated into business—not just as an add-on, but as the foundation of a business strategy.
  • I found it most interesting to understand how innovative thinking and responsible action can create value for both society and the environment, while ensuring profitability.
  • My main conclusion is that a 100% sustainable business model is very difficult to create, but I believe it is possible, and this course gave me food for thought.
  • I learned so much! Lots of interesting lectures.
  • It was a very nice exchange course, well structured and informative. Turiba was very welcoming and took good care of the students. I would recommend this course to my fellow students.
  • This course gave me valuable insights into sustainable thinking. I particularly liked the application of practical ideas in real life, which inspired me to think creatively.
