On the occasion of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Danish Embassy in Latvia is hosting a mini-festival for university students on 9 October at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. This will be a day of EU-focused activities, including Denmark’s presidency priorities, namely European security and defence as well as competitiveness and the green transition.
Our aim is to engage young people in Latvia - primarily university students aged 18 to 29 - with the aim of sparking interest in the EU and strengthening their understanding of EU – as well as the opportunities it offers. Currently, the programme includes (1) debate competition about EU security, competitiveness and green transition, (2) two panel discussions between high-level speakers about these issues, (3) a seminar by EPSO on how to pursue a career in the EU, (4) and an EU quiz, where students can win small prizes. The winners of the debate competition will have the opportunity to accompany the Danish Ambassador and Embassy for a day of meetings with Latvian stakeholders and authorities (Ambassador-for-a-day).
We expect the day to start around 09.30 and finish around 16.00. We will provide coffee and sandwiches to the students. The Embassy will also provide participants with a certificate of attendance at the end of the day, which they can include in their CV.
Full event information and registration can be found here.
We would be pleased to see students from Turība University at our event. Therefore, we kindly ask you to promote the event information within your network, either by resharing the Embassy’s posts (Facebook, Instagram) about the event, or by circulating the event poster/SoMe graphic/caption template attached in this mail on your own platforms.
