International projects

Turiba University is actively expanding its international cooperation, initiating, developing, and implementing various local, national, and international projects.

We believe that the development of the University is inconceivable without innovative initiatives, the creation of new teaching approaches and methods, and without international collaboration. To prepare high-quality new professionals, it is essential for our university to provide opportunities for learning in an international environment, meeting lecturers, and professionals from around the world. Therefore, we realize international projects in collaboration with universities and partners worldwide.

Through these projects, we have developed new and innovative educational resources and tools, published books, organized international conferences, exchange trips, study visits, summer schools, and other activities.

We have extensive experience in international project management and have been actively involved in coordinating projects such as Central Baltic Interreg, Erasmus Mundus, Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program, European Social fund, JUSTICE, NORDPLUS, and ERASMUS+ projects.

NORDPLUS Intensive Course “Security Risk Management” 2025

Security issues are currently important both globally and especially for the Baltic and Scandinavian countries - the regions that are represented among the Nordplus programme member states. Today’s risks are diverse: the consequences of war, migration flows, conflicts rooted in cultural and religious differences, cyberattacks and other threats affecting society and infrastructure.

Security is also a concern at the level of individual organisations and institutions. Therefore, educational institutions must prepare practically oriented, competent security specialists who can identify threats, assess risks and develop effective response strategies. Solutions in the field of security are rarely purely local - only coordinated cooperation between countries and institutions across Europe can provide sufficient capacity to face new challenges.

Turiba Univeristy has long cooperated with several Baltic and Scandinavian partners on security-related projects. In the summer of 2025, in cooperation with 4 partner universities, a NORDPLUS intensive course on security risk management was held - an intensive training that provided students with in-depth theoretical and practical preparation.

The course covered a wide range of topics, including the theoretical foundations of security, aspects of individual and organisational security, the impact of globalization on security, crisis management, energy security, cybersecurity, conflict resolution, cooperation and leadership skills. The programme included lectures, practical workshops, discussions with industry practitioners and study visits; the working language was English, and the course included students and lecturers from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Norway and Finland.

Course dates: 12-22 August 2025.

The course programme, presentations and video can be found HERE.

The course was organised with financial support from the NORDPLUS programme. The project involved five higher education institutions – Turiba University (Latvia), Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia), Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and Nord University (Norway).

Project number - NPHE- 2025/10267.
