International projects

Turiba University is actively expanding its international cooperation, initiating, developing, and implementing various local, national, and international projects.

We believe that the development of the University is inconceivable without innovative initiatives, the creation of new teaching approaches and methods, and without international collaboration. To prepare high-quality new professionals, it is essential for our university to provide opportunities for learning in an international environment, meeting lecturers, and professionals from around the world. Therefore, we realize international projects in collaboration with universities and partners worldwide.

Through these projects, we have developed new and innovative educational resources and tools, published books, organized international conferences, exchange trips, study visits, summer schools, and other activities.

We have extensive experience in international project management and have been actively involved in coordinating projects such as Central Baltic Interreg, Erasmus Mundus, Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program, European Social fund, JUSTICE, NORDPLUS, and ERASMUS+ projects.

JUSTICE programme project “Cooperation Development among Mediators and Lawyers” CODEMAL

In September 2019 Turiba University in cooperation with 3 partner Universities from Italy, Lithuania and Austria has started to implement JUSTICE programme project “Cooperation Development among Mediators and Lawyers” which aims to develop training materials, provide professional training and to stimulate cooperation among mediators and lawyers.

Main focus of the project is to foster cooperation between justice professionals – lawyers (advocates) and mediators, with the aim to promote effective and coherent application of the Brussels II rules among justice professionals. Judicial and mediation training for merged groups of beneficiaries – lawyers and mediators, to increase mutual and inter-professional understanding for smoother solution of cross-border Family law disputes, especially those involving the best interests of the child.

The overarching result is closer cooperation between two justice professionals – lawyers and mediators in cross-border family law sector. To reach this result the partners will organize practical seminars for both groups of professional, as well as arrange support materials to grant long lasting effect of the project.

The project partners will also elaborate training support materials – unified recommendations, collection of best practice examples and translation of 4 already existing professional mediation training videos. All partners will also organize trainings for justice professionals - lawyers and mediators practicing in cross-border family and parental responsibility cases, organize a study visit to the dispute resolution centre for representatives from each partner country and hold national and international experience exchange events.

The first project meeting just took place in Riga, Turiba University on 8.10.2019.

Duration of the project: 30 months (01.09.2019.-28.02.2022.)

Project is co-financed by European Union’s Justice Programme (2014-2020).
