“Turības ziedošais cepiens” flavor masterclass was held in collaboration with Liene Zemīte

On July 5, a special gourmet masterclass, Turības ziedošais cepiens, was held at the Āgenskalns Market co-creation kitchen Re-Cep-Te, which brought together lovers of a healthy lifestyle and beauty for a creative and tastebud-pleasing experience. For the second year in a row, enthusiasts from the world of taste, health and beauty have come together at this event. This year, the gourmet masterclass was led by Liene Zemīte, the master of cakes and the owner of the Lapsas Māja restaurant, together with Marika Kaprano-Ģederte, the Head of Health Care Department of Turība University.
“A healthy diet is not the enemy of the holidays – it can be their most beautiful accent. When food is rich in colors, the power of nature and love, it nourishes both the body and the spirit,” emphasizes Marika Kaprano-Ģederte, the Head of Health Care Department of Turība University.
Liene Zemīte shared her experience in making healthy cakes at the event and demonstrated how it is possible to combine excellent taste and delicious enjoyment. Under her leadership, zucchini cupcakes with a delicate rhubarb cream were made, decorated with edible flowers and aromatic herbs – they not only pleased the eyes, but also enriched the bouquet of flavors.
“The feeling when you create a holiday is very special, it reminds you of butterflies in your stomach when you are in love, it makes you smile, it increases joy and inspiration. Holidays are associated with cakes, usually they are the dot on the “i”, and I agree - without cakes, a holiday is not a holiday. I am passionate about creating healthy cakes that have less sugar, no gluten, which are a joy to eat and do not make you feel guilty about the calories,” emphasizes cake master Liene Zemīte.
Meanwhile, Marika Kaprano-Ģederte, together with her colleagues from the Health Care Department, introduced those present to the use of flowering plants not only in food, but also in beauty care. Participants had the opportunity to gain ideas on how to introduce more natural power into their daily lives, both in their diet and beauty rituals.
The master class was held in collaboration with Āgenskalns Market and was part of the Turība University birthday celebrations. Turība offers college programs in “Aesthetic Cosmetology” and “Therapeutic Massage,” but will expand its offerings with a new bachelor’s program in “Nutrition” starting in the 2025/2026 academic year.
