Turība Summer School Brings Together Students and Lecturers from Seven Countries to Discuss Security and Sustainable Business Issues

From May 26 to 30, Turība University hosted lecturers and students from Finland, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, and Spain as part of two ERASMUS+ Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP).
Two ERASMUS+ BIP courses took place simultaneously at Turība: “Crisis and Security Management 2025” and “Sustainable Business 2025”. During the courses, lecturers shared their expertise, while students enhanced their knowledge and skills in security management and sustainable business, promoting international cooperation and cultural exchange.
The intensive study course “Crisis and Security Management 2025” provided students with the opportunity to learn crisis response strategies, take part in team tasks, and analyze current European security challenges.
Meanwhile, the “Sustainable Business 2025” course focused on sustainable business models, innovations, and the generation of new sustainable business ideas. Participants met with sustainability experts and entrepreneurs, worked in groups to develop ideas, and presented their projects.
The courses included thematic lectures and seminars, as well as experience exchange visits to Latvian companies. Participants visited the Elelevi solar panel park in Sigulda, the Modular House manufacturing company Modern House, and the Vienkoči Park. They also heard success stories about sustainable practices at the State Forests’ Valmiera branch, Kalsnava Arboretum, and visited Amatciems.
"Such intensive courses are a great opportunity for students to gain new knowledge – something they might not be able to learn in their regular university studies. The programs are very intensive, focused, and interdisciplinary. A great added value is that students visit various companies and organizations, meet and discuss with professionals – this gives them a completely new experience and perspective. Students also gain the valuable experience of working and collaborating in intercultural teams. Group work and team challenges are an essential part of these courses. In the security course, for example, in cooperation with our partner NOVIKONTAS Training Centre, the entire student team participated in a water survival simulation," says Kristīne Neimane, Head of the Project Department.
Both programs were implemented within the framework of the ERASMUS+ programme, and participants had the opportunity to earn 3 ECTS credit points.
The ERASMUS+ BIP courses “Crisis and Security Management 2025” and “Sustainable Business 2025” are part of the ERASMUS+ project No. 2024-1-LV01-KA131-HED-000196665.
