Turība expands study content to include financial technology entrepreneurship courses

Since this academic year, Turība University has included new courses on the development of financial technology (FinTech) companies in its curriculum, giving students the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of one of the fastest growing and most promising sectors in today's economy.
The FinTech industry is currently experiencing rapid growth worldwide, and Latvia also has considerable potential – thanks to the industry's export capacity and dynamic market, our country has ambitions to become a regional leader. In the new study courses, students acquire knowledge and skills that help them understand current trends in the FinTech sector, develop innovative solutions, and create sustainable business models. The content combines business, technology, and regulatory aspects, allowing students to link theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The courses are integrated into the business management study program, expanding students' choices and the diversity of study topics.
Evija Kļave, Vice-Rector for Studies at Turība University and Associate Professor, emphasizes: "The world of FinTech is rapidly changing the way we understand financial services, and these study courses are a great opportunity for students not only to learn the basics of financial technology, but also to see how these innovations create new opportunities in the areas of banking, payments, lending, and insurance. Cooperation with the Riga Business School and industry experts provides the university with methodological support, which is essential to ensure that the content and form of studies meet the requirements of the labor market and create a modern study experience for our students."
To ensure high-quality education, Turība University lecturers have participated in professional development courses, including learning the Harvard Business Impact case-teaching approach to create an understanding of real business situation analysis in the curriculum.
The study courses have been developed at RTU Riga Business School in close cooperation with industry experts and with the support of the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Facility. In addition to their studies, students and lecturers will be able to participate in events that bring together the academic environment and industry professionals, and become part of the Latvian FinTech education community.
This educational initiative is being implemented as part of the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility project "Strengthening knowledge and research capacity in the areas of anti-money laundering, financial technology and sector analysis."
