Representative of the Ukrainian National Academy of Internal Affairs visits Turība University

On October 7, Turiba University welcomed Tihon Shevchenko, Associate Professor of the Special Tactics Department at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, who gave a lecture on the work of the Ukrainian police, special forces and universities to students of the Organizational Security study program as well as invited guests from the National Armed Forces and the municipal police, on the work of the Ukrainian police, special forces, and universities in wartime.

During the lecture, Shevchenko shared his experience on how Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have adapted to the realities of war, ensuring public safety and national defense. He emphasized that the work of the police and special forces in wartime is becoming increasingly challenging, as the shortage of personnel is growing and constant air strikes are also causing problems in the training of new specialists.

Special attention was paid to the role of the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs as an education and research center that continues to operate even in wartime, training new specialists and providing scientific support in the field of security and defense, for example, by developing various unmanned and augmented vision systems for the needs of the Ukrainian police. Professor Shevchenko noted that the university's goal is not only to train professional police officers, but also to strengthen the resilience of society.

Participants in the event – students, representatives of the National Armed Forces, and municipal police officers – acknowledged that the lecture provided a unique insight into Ukraine's experience and allowed for a better understanding of the security challenges faced by a country undergoing active warfare.

Turība University continues to develop cooperation with foreign universities and security institutions in order to provide students with the opportunity to gain international experience and practical knowledge about current security challenges.
