Turība and Tet strengthen cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and data security

To promote closer cooperation between education and industry in information technology (IT) and security issues, on July 31, Turība University and the technology and innovation company Tet, one of the leading technology and communications companies in Latvia, signed a cooperation agreement.
As part of the cooperation, both partners particularly emphasize interaction in such sectors as IT, cybersecurity and data security. “This cooperation agreement with the company “Tet” is a significant step in the development of our university and in the opportunities of students. We highly value the opportunity to interact precisely in such areas as information technology, cybersecurity and data security - sectors that are critically important for both our national security and sustainable digital development. I am convinced that joint projects, knowledge exchange and student involvement will promote high professional competence and innovation,” says Zane Driņķe, Rector of Turība University.
Uldis Tatarčuks, Chairman of the Board of Tet, emphasizes: “This cooperation will create a strong foundation for a more capable and secure digital future. One of our most important values is our colleagues who work for us. I believe that people are the foundation of our security - young, motivated specialists are not only a resource, but a reality that will help us together build a more stable and secure digital environment. I am pleased that our common vision - stability, innovation and investments in the field of cybersecurity and data security - will ensure the growth of both digital security and young experts”.
Turība University will strengthen cooperation in legal, IT and security areas, collaborating both in the research and innovation process and in higher education based on practical knowledge.
The cooperation will be implemented with researchers and experts from the Faculty of Law on various issues of data protection, consumer rights, regulation of the use of artificial intelligence, intellectual property rights and data processing. In turn, the Faculty of IT will be involved in processes related to data validation, forecasting and analysis, modeling, implementation of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity aspects, while the organizational security direction will cooperate in relation to cybersecurity and physical security, emphasizing cyber-physical security in research.
As part of the cooperation agreement, university students will also be offered internships at the Tet company and the opportunity to go on study tours, while the cooperation partner will have the opportunity to receive specialist consultations in various fields, conduct practical classes, seminars, master classes and guest lectures, provide consultations on study program development opportunities, as well as cooperate within the framework of the mentor program.
The improvement of study programs and the study process takes place in close cooperation with the industry. In order for students to obtain the latest industry information and be in close contact during their studies, Turība University places great emphasis on practical knowledge and lecturers - professionals in their field. That is why the university is proud of its cooperation partners - companies, organizations and institutions, which share their knowledge both in guest lectures and provide students with the opportunity to gain practical experience by working in companies. In general, the circle of cooperation partners of Turība University is wide, and every year more and more new ones join this group.
In addition, the university also operates a Mentor Association, which brings together a number of experienced entrepreneurs and experts from various fields who are ready to share their experience and support students who have already taken or are just planning to take their first steps in business with their advice.
