Stories of Song Festival participants from Turība were broadcast on Radio SWH

During the Song Festival week, Turība Univeristy together with radio SWH went to Āgenskalns Market on July 9, where the radio mobile studio was visited by active, creative, knowledgeable and enterprising Turība lecturers, graduates and students, as well as friends of the university - Āgenskalns Market and Children's Clinical University Hospital.

Radio listeners could hear various stories of inspiration and experience about the path to professional achievements and challenges, learn about the guests' most vivid memories of participating in the Song and Dance Festival movement and realize how different we are, combining our professional activities with our hobbies.

The radio airwaves were also supplemented by friends of Turība University, with whom we have developed close cooperation in various educational, social and charity projects. In cooperation with Āgenskalns Market, it was possible to learn about the current events of Āgenskalns Market and Kalnciema Quarter and their plans for this summer on the radio air, while doctors from the Children's Clinical University Hospital drew the attention of young people in particular to taking care of their health and safety.

  • Kaspars Indrēvics, Lecturer and graduate of the Organizational Security program at Turība University, National Armed Forces security and forensics specialist, and drummer in the bagpipe and drum group “Auļi”,
  • Nikola Liepiņa, Communication student at Turība University, scenography participant in the Song Festival,
  • Kārlis Apalups, Head of the Organizational Security program at Turība University, Honorary Graduate, Co-founder of the Security Professionals Association,
  • Baiba Grīna, Lecturer in the Health Care program at Turība University, makeup artist for the chief conductors of the Song Festival.

The guests were interviewed by the radio personality duo Marta Grigale, Artis Volfs and Edgars Barbaks with Ligita Mieza.

Radio SWH, together with lecturers, graduates and students of the Turība University, has so far visited Cēsis, Liepāja, Talsi, Sigulda, Kuldīga, Valmiera, Jēkabpils, Bauska and Riga.

In its 32 years of operation, the Turība University has become a TOP3 university in Latvia recognized by employers and the largest business university in the Baltics with three branches – in Cēsis, Talsi and Liepāja. Currently, almost 19 000 young specialists have graduated from Turība, and the university offers 32 study programmes – from entrepreneurship, law, organisational security, IT to tourism, communication, event production and healthcare.

In order to develop tourism in Riga and offer and new, creative tourism products, the Turība University and Ltd “Kalnciema iela”, which represent Āgenskalns Market and Kalnciema Quarter, have concluded a cooperation agreement. Providing modern studies that meet the needs of the industry is only possible if universities are able to see the development trends of the industry, follow them and create content. From the perspective of tourism resources and management of Riga as a tourist destination, Kalnciema Quarter and Āgenskalns Market are places that are a significant addition to Riga's tourism offer, places for creativity and new tourism products - cultural and historical heritage, wooden architecture or current trends of today - gastronomic tourism products.

Whereas, training is organized for volunteers together with the Children's Clinical University Hospital Parents' House, as well as the university's team participates in the charity project “Drosmes kaste”, as well as students every autumn and spring put their hardworking hands to clean up the hospital territory so that young patients and their parents would have a pleasant stay there.
