Registration for the Latvian Circular Economy Forum is open and the program has been announced

Registration is currently open for participation in the Latvian Circular Economy Forum, which will take place on November 5, 2025 in Riga, at the VEF Culture Palace, in which experts from the Turība University will also participate.

The event is organized by the Riga municipal agency “Riga Energy Agency” (REA) in cooperation with the environmental services company “CleanR Grupa”. The forum will bring together entrepreneurs, policymakers, researchers and representatives of the creative industries to discuss the practical implementation of circular economy principles in Latvia.

“The Latvian Circular Economy Forum brings together participants whose knowledge and experience are a significant contribution to the development of both our city and the country. Riga is particularly honored to host this event, as it provides an opportunity for representatives of local governments, businesses, the non-governmental sector and experts to meet in one place to jointly search for and demonstrate solutions for a sustainable future. We must remember that the circular economy is not just a set of ideas, but a targeted and practical approach that allows for smarter use of resources, strengthens local communities and creates new economic opportunities. It helps to rethink both everyday habits and the broader direction of development, laying the foundation for a city that is sustainable, socially inclusive and economically viable. Our goal is for Riga to become a model and source of inspiration for how the principles of the circular economy can be implemented in practice at various levels, from individual initiatives to large city-wide projects. By cooperating and caring for each other, we can create a city where people want to live, work and build their future,” emphasizes Viesturs Kleinbergs, the Chairman of the Riga City Council.

“CleanR Grupa” member of the board and the European Climate Pact Ambassador in Latvia Agita Baltbārde marks: “Our group of companies' approach to business is closely linked to the application of circular economy principles in business. We manage various resources, return materials to the economy, and this forces us to continuously accumulate expertise. By involving scientists and launching the development of the Circular Economy Index, last year we wanted to stimulate change, pool knowledge, share our experience with society and municipalities, as well as create a practical tool for easier implementation of circularity. Last year we conducted the first study, this year we are sharing the results, data, good practices and knowledge, so that already in 2026, when conducting the next large-scale study, we will see together the dynamics and changes brought about by smart management, and this will gradually become a real benefit for society”.

The forum program includes 30 different thematic sessions, discussions, company experience stories, and the “CleanR Grupa” Circular Economy Index Coworking session – practical and useful on resource management, smart farming, public engagement, and a better business environment.

The program of the forum and the registration form is available here: https://rea.riga.lv/pasakumi/latvijas-aprites-ekonomikas-forums-2025/. Registration for the forum is open until October 28, 2025; the number of places is limited.

The Latvian Circular Economy Forum is organized within the framework of the European Union INTERREG Baltic Sea Region Programme project “Creative Circular Cities – Promoting circular transition at local level by involving the Culture & Creative Sectors and Industries”. More information about the project is available on the website https://rea.riga.lv/projekti/ccc/. The forum is supported by one of the leading peat extraction and processing companies in Latvia, “Laflora” Ltd., and the developer of industrial parks in Latvia, “NP Properties” Ltd.
