One of Latvia’s leading basketball coaches – Raimonds Feldmanis, widely known for his experience in youth and professional basketball, as well as for being the head coach of the Latvian men’s 3x3 basketball team that won the Olympic gold medal and the Head of the Turība University basketball team – has, from this November, begun work as the director of the Turība Sports Club.

Raimonds Feldmanis has proven himself to be a highly professional and goal-oriented coach. Under his leadership, the Latvian men’s 3x3 basketball team won the Olympic champion title in 2021, and his professional vision, work ethic, and experience have helped many young basketball players reach a new level of mastery.

Feldmanis’ contribution to the development of the Turība basketball team clearly demonstrates his ability to systematically build teams, develop talent, and ensure excellent performance in competitions of various levels.

As he takes on the role of sports club director, Raimonds Feldmanis will be responsible not only for the further development of the basketball team, but also for overseeing the other structures of the sports club, including the Turība cheerleading team and cricket team. Under his leadership, the sports club plans to expand student engagement in athletic activities and continue building a dynamic, united, and high-quality sports environment at the university.

This March, Feldmanis was also appointed assistant coach of the Ukrainian men’s national basketball team, where his task is to strengthen the coaching staff, provide expertise, and offer strategic insight into international-level basketball.

Turība University is committed to ensure that students are strong not only in mind and spirit, but also find time for physical activity and can incorporate sports into their daily routine after long days of lectures. The university offers participation in the Turība basketball club, the university cricket club, the cheerleading team, and access to an outdoor training area and gym. Consultations with the basketball club’s physical conditioning coach are also available.

Students of Turība University have the opportunity to develop their basketball talents and skills in an intensive and professional training program led by Raimonds Feldmanis, coach of the Tokyo Olympic 3x3 champions. This season, a basketball skills development pyramid has been created, with our partner club “Rīgas Zeļļi” at the top, as well as the National League team “Kandava/Turība.” Additionally, teams of our students, alumni, and the club’s women’s team compete in various amateur leagues.
