Studies in one of the doctoral study programs of the Turība University are a broadening of horizons and an opportunity to develop. The Faculty of Business Administration and the Faculty of Law of Turība offer four doctoral study programs in total – “Business Administration”, “Management Science”, “Law Science” and “Communication Management”. The doctoral study programs offered can be studied in both Latvian and English, and the study process is planned according to an individual approach for each student.

In the doctoral study program “Communication Management” in the field of communication, it is possible to acquire research and pedagogical skills and create new knowledge in integrated marketing communication, media and communication science and management science, including strategic, communication and media management. The director of the program, Jolanta Derkevica-Pilskunga, emphasizes: “Doctoral studies are a logical, professional continuation for those who want to dig deeper. It provides an understanding of the connections in the scientific and professional fields. Communication is a relatively new but extremely interesting science, which can be a continuation of other acquired knowledge and experience”.

The “Business Administration” program, on the other hand, is structured to explore and develop students’ skills and knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship in depth. “Such a program provides an opportunity to study a wide range of thematically related courses, which include strategic planning, management processes, financial management, innovation and business development. Doctoral studies offer an opportunity to gain new perspectives and advance in scientific research. In addition, higher education in this field can open the door to career growth and opportunities for leading positions in the business and academic environment,” emphasizes Rosita Zvirgzdiņa, director of the “Business Administration” program at the Faculty of Business Administration.

The goal of the “Law Science” study program is to ensure high-level studies and active scientific research activities of doctoral students. “This gives doctoral students the opportunity to in-depth acquire the competencies necessary for writing a doctoral thesis and completing it with an original and empirically proven result,” emphasizes Ingrīda Veikša, director of the program. “Doctoral studies provide an opportunity not only to gain additional knowledge from highly qualified legal scholars and professionals, but also to test one’s knowledge and character traits by discussing with them various issues of interest. Doctoral studies provide an opportunity to analyze everyday processes with scientifically proven methods, which often yield surprising results. It is a mental exercise! After doctoral studies, the Latvian legal system is filled with clear-thinking and analytical theorists who can help highly qualified professionals working in the system set goals that are important for the entire society and strive towards them without distraction”.

At Turība University, it is also possible to study “Management Science” at a doctoral level. The director of this program, Rosita Zvirgzdiņa, emphasizes that the management science program is focused on an in-depth understanding of management processes, organizational structures, and leadership principles. Such a program usually includes courses on strategic management, organizational innovations, human resource management, and business ethics. “Studies in this doctoral program provide an opportunity to conduct deeper analysis and research in the field of management. Doctoral studies provide an opportunity to create and conduct original research projects that will be invested not only in personal, but also in professional development. A doctoral degree in management can give a great advantage in career growth, open the door to higher positions and offer the opportunity to become a significant contributor to the development of management theory and practice,” continues the professor.

The duration of studies in the doctoral programs “Business Administration”, “Management Science” and “Law Science” is three years, but in the program “Communication Management” – 3.5 years. The program “Management Science” is implemented in cooperation with Daugavpils University.
