International student mobility in Finland strengthens sustainable business competencies
From March 29 to April 3, 2026, an international student mobility program successfully took place in Pori, Finland, within the framework of the Nordplus project, bringing together students and academic staff from Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland. The mobility was organized by Turība University in cooperation with the Pori unit of the Turku University School of Economics and the Lithuania Business College.
Four students and two lecturers from Turība University traveled to Pori, along with three students accompanied by one lecturer from Lithuania Business College.
This intensive study week focused on deepening understanding of sustainable business practices. The mobility is part of the Nordplus project “Sustainable Thinking in Business,” which Turība University has been successfully implementing in cooperation with partner universities from Finland and Lithuania for the second consecutive year.
The main goal of the express mobility program was to promote students’ understanding of the importance of sustainable thinking, develop skills in creating sustainable business solutions, and strengthen international cooperation between higher education institutions.
During the mobility, students participated in seminars and practical workshops on sustainable entrepreneurship. The program included teamwork on real-life sustainability case studies, meetings with local entrepreneurs, as well as learning about the education system in Finland. Students also had the opportunity to explore extracurricular student activities in Finland by visiting the Pori student organization POINTER.
In addition to academic activities, participants had the opportunity to experience Finnish culture and explore the cultural and historical heritage of the Pori region.
At the end of the mobility, student teams presented their group projects and reflected on the experience gained.
International cooperation and student mobility are essential tools for fostering sustainable thinking and preparing future entrepreneurs capable of addressing today’s global challenges.
The mobility was funded by the Nordplus project (Project No. NPHE-2025/10460).
