Upon learning about the nomination “Honorary Professor” awarded by Turība University, the director of the program “International Marketing and Sales Management”, professor, Dr.oec. Iveta Liniņa, like most of the nominees, feels very surprised, but especially honored. I. Liniņa adds that she feels very appreciated by the Turība family for the work invested in the development of students and the university.
What are your greatest successes?
For more than 27 years, I have been associated with sales and marketing in various international companies. I have experienced different times. I have reached various heights in my professional career. If we talk about the university - my pride can be measured in the achievements of my graduates and students. My greatest satisfaction is their successes. Students work both in Latvia and elsewhere in the world in the field of marketing and hold various high-level positions.
What have been the greatest difficulties and challenges in your professional path, and how have you overcome them?
My field of activity is challenging in itself, because sales and marketing are very dynamic niches. I also share my experience with my students that working in marketing requires great dedication and constant improvement. Working in marketing and sales does not allow me to relax for a moment. At the moment, I miss it a little in the academic environment, but working with students brings irreplaceable joy.
How do you spend your free time?
In the summer, I like to spend time in the garden, where I can relax from everyday life, indulge in creativity and get inspiration for my work. My grandchildren bring great joy to my life, with whom I get joy and energy.
Whereas, for the last three years, I have started all-season swimming. It often requires great discipline, but the satisfaction and adrenaline after swimming are difficult to describe.
What values do you consider to be the most important in both professional and personal life?
The most important thing is to develop an attitude towards what you do. If you do everything in life with the right attitude, great opportunities will open up and you will be able to reach great heights.
Where do you get inspiration from in your academic work environment?
I try to find time to travel both with my family and with my colleagues. Although time is limited as a teacher, we try to plan a short or long trip to get to know other cultures and temporarily change the environment around us.
What is your life motto?
I try to do everything to be happy, to be fulfilled, and this can be achieved by cultivating my attitude towards everyday events and life in general. You can see the positive in any situation. It is easier to deal with problems if you see an opportunity in them.
