“Turības ziedošais cepiens”– a master class for gourmets and supporters of a healthy lifestyle at Āgenskalns Market
Turība's birthday, cakes for you! Celebrating the 33rd birthday of Turība University, we invite every gourmet to the taste masterclass “Turības ziedošais cepiens”, which will take place on July 5 from 12:00 to 14:00 in the Āgenskalns Market co-creation kitchen “Re-Cep-Te”.
For the second year in a row, this event brings together enthusiasts from the worlds of taste, health and beauty. This year, the masterclass will be led by Liene Zemīte, the master of cakes and the owner of the restaurant “Lapsas Māja”, in collaboration with specialists from the Field of Health Care of Turība University.
“A healthy diet is not the enemy of celebrations – it can be their most beautiful accent. When food is full of colors, the power of nature and love, it nourishes both the body and the spirit. Let’s celebrate life with good taste. We invite everyone to a healthy cupcake masterclass, where the gentleness of nature will meet creativity – we will bake treats and decorate with edible flowers, enjoy the scents, colors and good company,” invites Marika Kaprano-Ģederte, Head of Turība’s Health Care Department.
In the masterclass, we will prepare a healthy alternative to regular cupcakes together – for example, zucchini cupcakes with refreshing rhubarb cream. We will decorate them with edible flowers and plants, creating a result that is both delicious and visually appealing. During the masterclass, you will learn which flowering plants can be used to complement food and drinks, get to know the use of plants in beauty care and enjoy the prepared delicacies.
At the end of the event, there will be an opportunity to talk to Liene Zemīte and experts from Turība's Health Care Department, and one of the audience members of the master class will have the opportunity to win a cake specially prepared by Liene Zemīte.
“The feeling when you create a holiday is very special, it reminds you of butterflies in your stomach when you are in love, it makes you smile, it increases joy and inspiration. Holidays are associated with cakes, usually they are the dot on the “i”, and I agree - without cakes, a holiday is not a holiday. I am passionate about creating healthy cakes that contain less sugar, are gluten-free, that are a joy to eat and do not have any remorse about the calories. Yes, such cakes are possible, and I will show you how to bake them,” emphasizes cake master Liene Zemīte.
Turība University offers studies in the Field of Health Care, which offers college or first-level higher education programs in “Aesthetic Cosmetology” and “Medicinal Massage”, as well as a new bachelor’s degree program in “Nutrition” starting in the academic year 2025/2026.
The event “Turības ziedošais cepiens” is free of charge, the co-working kitchen “Re-Cep-Te” is located on the 2nd floor of Āgenskalns Market. The event is organized in cooperation with Āgenskalns Market.
