Basketball club “Turība Univeristy”

Students of the Turība University have the opportunity to develop their talents and skills in an intensive and professional training regime, led by the coach of the 3x3 Tokyo Olympic champions, Raimonds Feldmanis. This season, a pyramid of basketball players' skills and abilities has been created, at the top of which is our cooperation partner club “Rīgas Zeļļi,” as well as the team of the National League “Kandava/Turība”. In addition, there is a possibility of creating a second National League team – “Rīgas Zeļļi/Turība”. Moreover, our student, graduate and also club women's teams play in various amateur leagues.

If a student has knowledge and previous experience in basketball, it is definitely worth joining the university basketball club to qualify for tuition discounts of up to 100%, get free living in the Student Hostel and discounts at the university cafe “Nīke”, however, each student is evaluated both according to their success in studies and attendance at training sessions. The amount of “bonuses” earned is reviewed after each semester.

To qualify for a place in the basketball team, the first step is to show yourself in open training sessions, after which the team composition is confirmed. The basketball club's training sessions take place in the Turība sports hall.

The university's gym and outdoor or 3x3 basketball court, which meets FIBA ​​requirements, have been chosen as a good training venue for more than a year by not only the most famous Latvian 3x3 players, but also by all youth and junior Latvian national teams' 3x3 basketball players, which has resulted in various medals and high places at both the world and European levels. By the way, most of the players of our excellent basketball team have improved their skills in the Turība gym during the summers.
