Short-cycle professional higher education study program
THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE
College or short-cycle studies last between 2 to 2.3 years, depending on the chosen form of study. Study subjects are thoughtfully divided into study years, ensuring a smooth and engaging study process, as well as allowing the acquired knowledge to be consolidated in practice.
DURING THE STUDY PROCESS YOU WILL LEARN:
- Professional: Physiotherapy, Physical therapy, Classical massage and massage for illnesses, Specialized massages - for babies and children, pregnant women, segmental, manual lymphatic drainage, sports massage, connective tissue, deep tissue massage, massage techniques using machine technology, hydrotherapy, Holistic approach and massages.
- Sectors of medicine: Anatomy, Physiology, Internal medicine, General pathology, Microbiology, Pediatrics, Pharmacology, Emergency medicine, Traumatology and surgery, Neurology General education: Business - personnel management and law, marketing, project management, Foreign languages, Communication psychology.
TASKS:
- To prepare students in accordance with the requirements of the National Standard for Vocational Higher Education and the qualification standard for the profession of "Masseur"
- To ensure the development of the content of the study program and the study process in accordance with the requirements of the labor market
- To motivate students for continuous improvement of professional skills.
- To Provide students with the opportunity to continue in the first cycle professional higher education programs to obtain the sixth level professional qualification.
ACHIEVABLE RESULTS:
- Understanding of the global trends in the field of health care and therapeutic massage
- Understanding of the hygiene and safety rules of thier profession, professional ethics
- Able to apply communication strategies in various communication situations
- Understanding of the human anatomy, physiological and general pathological processes. Can understand how a patient's lifestyle affects their health.
- Able to collect medical history, independently assess the type of massage, techniques, indications and contraindications according to the patient's condition and make recommendations
- Able to conduct responsible business
- Able to incorporate the latest evidence-based research in the healthcare field
Graduates of the Therapeutic Massage Program receive a nationally accredited diploma and a diploma from the World Massage Federation.
Upon graduating from the program, YOU WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE REGISTER OF IN THE REGISTER OF HEALTHCARE PRACTITIONERS, which will open wide range of career opportunities.

The short-cycle professional higher education study program "Therapeutic Massage" is accredited until December 14, 2028.

Admission requirements
To be admitted to the first level of the study Program "Therapeutic Massage", applicants must have passed the central examination in Latvian, English and mathematics.
Applicants who completed their secondary education before 2004 must have passed the examination in the relevant subjects.
