Turība University Commences the Implementation of a Project for the Facilitation of Cooperation among Mediators and Lawyers (0)

On 8 October Turība University started the implementation of JUSTICE program project “Cooperation Development among Mediators and Lawyers”. The project is envisaged for the facilitation of cooperation among mediators and lawyers regarding the cross-border cases of family law. The aim of the project is to continue activities in the field of mediation – to develop new study materials, as well as in four partner countries of the project – in Latvia, Austria, Italy and Lithuania – to educate mediators and lawyers. The project is managed by Turība University and the project partners are Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), University of Graz (Austria) and University of Genoa (Italy).

Within the framework of project, the justice professionals – lawyers and mediators – will develop new study materials for the practitioners regarding cross-border cases of family law; they will aggregate the examples of good practice, as well as develop uniform recommendations and translations of mediation video, including translation into Latvian. Starting from autumn 2020 Turība University will organize study seminars for joint groups of lawyers and mediators. The seminars will take place in the groups of three levels – on the basic knowledge of cross-border family cases, on the knowledge of higher level and on the psychology knowledge regarding the cross-border family cases. There will organized a study visit for lawyers and mediators to the dispute settlement centre in the Netherlands, as well as there will be organized experience sharing events of national and international scale.

The target audience of the project is the justice professionals – the lawyers and mediators of partner countries. It is planned that the project will encompass approximately 500 lawyers and 120 mediators in four participating countries, all-in-all improving the knowledge and experience of 620 professionals.
