Turiba Congratulates Its 5000th Graduate in Business Administration and Awards Students for Ideas in Tourism Business (0)

On Saturday, June 8th, the graduation ceremony for the summer session graduates of the study year 2012/2013 took place in Turiba University which developed into a double-purpose celebration due to the occasions for congratulating the 5000th graduate from the Business Administration Faculty (UVF) and awarding the best business ideas developed by the students of the International Tourism Faculty (STF).

The honour to become the 5000th graduate of Business Administration was merited to Jānis Štokmanis who obtained the Professional Bachelor Degree in Marketing under the study programme of ‘Marketing and Sales Management’ and was therefore congratulated by Dr.oec.,, Dean of the Business Management Faculty Vita Zariņa.

The graduation ceremony at the International Tourism Faculty was a special event, too. This year the ceremony included the awarding of the business ideas on tourism developed by the students. The recognition and the award presented by the Chairman of the Turiba Development Council, Vice-President of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Aigars Rostovskis — the option of consulting the entrepreneurs for further development of their business ideas, were received by students Ilona Vilciņa and Žanete Ilziņa.

Other highly estimated student works were also honoured as the representatives of enterprises in the tourism and hospitality industry were awarding the authors of the most useful and best research works.

In total during this graduation ceremony there were graduation papers for the 1st level, bachelor and master degree studies distributed to 484 new professionals, including the spring and the summer session graduates, and most of them —144 were graduates who have successfully arrived at the finish line of their studies at the International Tourism Faculty. Business Administration Faculty will be graduated by 107 students and the Faculty of Law by 97 in total, while the number of the Public Relations Faculty graduates is 65 future specialists. This is the second year when the university diplomas were also received by students from abroad — France, Uzbekistan, Russia, Georgia, Belorussia and Ukraine.

The number of Turiba University graduates has now reached 12,160. The largest number of graduates in Turiba University at present — 5,012 graduates, is from the Business Administration Faculty, followed by the Faculty of Law with 4,192 graduates, International Tourism Faculty with 2194 and the most recent faculty — Public Relations Faculty can be now proud of its 762 graduates.
