On Tuesday, April 15, at 15.00-16.30 in Turiba University in Graudu Street 68, Riga, the opening celebration of the new classroom StartUp hotel will be held. StartUp hotel is a multifunctional, cosy, comfortable and interesting environment which is approximated to the real conditions of tourism services and where future tourism and hospitality professionals while studying can improve their skills practically.

The reasons of the establishing this classroom are explained by the dean of the Faculty of International Tourism of Turiba University Agita Doniņa: ”Turiba has always emphasized the importance of practical skills in the educating of young professionals, therefore, implementation of this project is only a logical continuation of our already gained experience in education. The name StartUp hotel precisely describes the multifunctional environment of the new classroom where future professionals of the field will work practically, participate in different discussions and conferences, thus acquiring new skills and ideas for their future goals and business”.

As noted by A. Doniņa, in tourism and hospitality services everything must be developed to the very detail; one must be aware of everything and everything must be able to be done starting from the lowest position. „Only after young professionals have understood the nature and nuances of the hospitality work, they can gain recognition and success, climb higher and one day they will become good hotel managers. By establishing this training room, we hope to prepare better professionals both for hotels and restaurants.”

The new classroom has been created through the University cooperation with companies of the sector, as well as with students and graduates-entrepreneurs of tourism and hospitality study programs providing students with the opportunity to improve their professional skills practically. StartUp hotel will be officially opened in the presence of management of the University and academic staff, as well as professionals recognized in the hospitality field, hotel managers, graduates and students of the University.

It is already reported that University’s efforts to provide the future hospitality and tourism professionals with modern education which meets the requirements of the labour market have been highly appreciated by such prestigious organization as UN World Tourism Organization which is approved by the fourth time granted TedQual accreditation for the following study programmes implemented by Turiba - professional bachelor study programme Tourism and Hospitality Companies Management and for the first time – professional master study programme Strategic Management in Tourism for the maximum period – four years.
