StartUp Hotel, the Multifunctional Classroom of Turiba, Receives Four Stars (1)
Shortly before Easter, on April 15, in Turiba University the multifunctional classroom of the Faculty of International Tourism StartUp hotel was solemnly opened, and there future tourism and hospitality professionals while studying can improve their skills practically.
The classroom which is approximated to real tourism services conditions and created as a prototype of restaurant, hotel room and reception, in the evaluation by field professionals received four starts.
To get acquainted with the established classroom the director of the Hotel and Restaurant Centre Edvīns Buka who evaluated the hotel standards and requirements which were met during the project. He concluded that the hotel prototype, the range of services offered by it and room facilities comply with international four-star hotel standards which were symbolically awarded.
E. Buka also specified the necessary improvements for the successful further development of the hotel.
In the informal part guest were entertained by bartenders’ show, and technical skills were demonstrated by one of the best professional in Latvia – Gvido Elksnis.
It should be noted that the new classroom was created in the cooperation with companies of the sector and graduates of tourism and hospitality study programmes which provided furniture, interior objects, tablecloths and cutlery, as well as bed clothes and other textile accessories of restaurants and hotels.
It is already reported that University’s efforts to provide the future hospitality and tourism professionals with modern education which meets the requirements of the labour market have been highly appreciated by such prestigious organization as UN World Tourism Organization which is approved by the fourth time granted TedQual accreditation for the following study programmes implemented by Turiba - professional bachelor study programme Tourism and Hospitality Management and for the first time – professional master study programme Strategic Management in Tourism for the maximum period – four years.
