Higher education institutions and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sign the Memorandum of Cooperation (0)

On May 28, 2018, the Export Association of the higher education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed the Memorandum of cooperation on attracting foreign students.

"Memorandum means the development of cooperation between Latvia's universities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will further help attract more and more qualified students to higher education institutions in Latvia and increase the capacity of embassies,"  emphasizing the importance of signing the document says Imants Bergs,  the vice rector of study development and international cooperation at Turiba University, and the chairman of the board of the Export Association of the higher education.

The Memorandum of cooperation stipulates that higher education institutions, which are in the Export Association of the higher education, will carry out an appropriate selection of students - by testing their general and foreign language proficiency, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will ensure that students' visa applications will be considered timely in accordance with the timetable set out in the memorandum.

The members of the Export Association of the higher education are 12 higher education institutions in Latvia:

  • Turiba University;
  • BA School of Business and Finance;
  • Business, arts and technology university "RISEBA";
  • University of Daugavpils;
  • University of culture and economics;
  • Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies;
  • Latvian Academy of Sport Education;
  • University of Latvia;
  • University of Liepaja;
  • Rezekne Academy of Technologies;
  • Riga Technical University;
  • University of Ventspils.
