DHBW SUMMER SCHOOL ON SUSTAINABILITY DHBW Heilbronn, Loerrach, Mannheim and Stuttgart JULY 2 – 22, 2018 (0)
This comprehensive Summer School Program on Sustainability in Business, Food,
Hospitality and Engineering is an amazing opportunity for students to earn credits over
the summer while meeting interesting new people and finding out more about the current
trends in sustainability. It takes place from July 2 to 22, 2018, in the beautiful cities of
Heilbronn, Loerrach, Mannheim and Stuttgart.
Students will gain insight into various sustainability concepts in a broad range of fields -
from an academic and an industrial perspective. The mornings will be filled with thoughtprovoking
seminars and workshops on such challenging topics as sustainable business
practices, sustainability in the hospitality sector and sustainable manufacturing. Our
lecturers are experts in their fields and will introduce the students to the diversity of
today’s relevant issues, from sustainable personnel management and green logistics to
Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability in finance and investments.
In the afternoons, participants will visit a variety of interesting companies, from global
players to innovative entrepreneurs. They will speak with engineers who develop cleaner,
more efficient technologies as well as with government officials who work on making
public spaces greener and healthier, like members of the State’s Ministry of the
Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector. Additionally, the renowned
Fraunhofer Society will open the doors to their “Morgenstadt Initiative”, where students
will discover the city of tomorrow.
Among the scheduled company visits are: Global hygiene and health company Essity, the
largest chemical company in the world, BASF, multinational pharmaceuticals and
healthcare company Roche, and premium car manufacturer Audi.
Our DHBW Summer School is open for students from different academic backgrounds.
During the three-week program, they can earn up to 9 ECTS credits. The supporting
program will include a variety of social and cultural events, such as exciting guided tours
of the participating cities, excursions to sustainable wine makers, visits to local organic
manufacturers, and much more.
The program is free of charge for students from our partner universities. This includes
all lectures, workshops and (company / site) visits as well as the transportation to all
regularly scheduled events and the certificate at the end of the program. Costs only occur
for meals, accommodation, personal spending, travels, and visa if applicable.
The working language of the DHBW Summer School on Sustainability is English. Thus,
students from all over the world can participate, earn credit over the summer, visit
prominent companies, and mingle with interesting people.
The DHBW Summer School is open to students from all departments and with different
academic backgrounds. As it is a multi-facetted topic, students of all study programs
should find a chance to apply their own subject-specific knowledge. The benefit of a varied
group of participants allows for both, a broader approach to the subject of sustainability
and a more focused examination of different aspects of this fascinating topic.
The program is free of charge for all students of our partner universities.
The free program includes all lectures, workshops and (company / site) visits as well as
the transportation to all regularly scheduled events. It also includes a Welcome and a
Farewell event as well as a certificate. Costs occur for your accommodation, meals,
personal spending, travels, and visa if applicable.
You can either seek accommodation yourself or ask us for our pre-booked rooms in local
hostels. While we cannot offer accommodation as part of the program, we’ll be happy to
help you find accommodation in Heilbronn, Loerrach, Mannheim and Stuttgart.
