At International scientific conference participated scientists from all around the world (1)
On 18th May at Turiba University was held the international scientific and practical conference "Communication in the global village: interests and influences", which was attended by over 200 participants from 30 countries, including 30 high-caliber scientists who spoke with reports on various topics of communication , mass media, intercultural communication, advocacy, business communication, political communication, as well as jurisprudence, tourism and economy.
The conference were attended by great international experts - Brian Reber from the University of Georgia (USA) and Klaus Beck from the Free University of Berlin (Germany). During the conference their scientific researches presented not only scientists, but also the students. The big prize- 150 euro- from the Students’ Council of Turiba University won students of the Faculty of Communication of Turiba University- Kristine Ulle, Miks Birins and Elvijs Ozols.
In the second part of the conference anyone interested was able to participate in the three problem laboratories in which together with professional of the industry and some well-known person in the society discussed about some actual and specific problem in Latvia at the moment. There were three problem laboratories: Business and political laboratory, where discussed how to expose the manipulation and lies in political debate. Other one was Legislative and media laboratory in which discussed the boundaries of privacy and whether there is need for a specific legal framework for municipal mass media. And the third one was Culture and Environment Laboratory in which discussed how to protect the environment through non-traditional methods and how globalization is affected by the recent socio-political events.
Each year the conference is organized by one of the university’s faculties and this year this work was put into hands of Faculty of Communication of Turiba University.
During the conference was revealed the book which was written by teaching staff of the Faculty of Communication of the University of Vilnius and the Faculty of Communication of Turiba University- “New Media and New Public Governance: The Strategic Communications Approach". The book was created thanks to the support of the Nordplus and its content results from the 2016 summer school SCCL (Strategic communication competencies for leadership) topics.
At the conference was opened Lithuanian poet and photographer Vytautas Šileikas sand exhibition vacuum from all world and it can be viewed until 26 May.
