AIESEC in Latvia Will Host First Youth Speak Forum in Riga (3)
While the Youth Speak Forum has already taken place in several locations worldwide, it will be the first one in Latvia on Saturday, May 7th, 2016. The YouthSpeak Forum is an event that aims to bring experts, business leaders and thought leaders into a conversation around pressing global issues together with young leaders.
Linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that the UN has released and aims to achieve until the year 2030, the YouthSpeak Forum is a unique way to give the youth not only a voice -- but also the chance to act. The initiative Youth for Global Goals which is powered by AIESEC, aims to achieve the leadership potential of young people around the world by engaging and mobilizing them through purposeful and cross-cultural projects around the globe. All projects are designed to support the implementation of the SDGs. More information: http://youth4globalgoals.org/
The main topic for the Latvia YouthSpeak Forum is Entrepreneurship and Education. It is considered the most relevant topic for Latvia, based on the answers to the YouthSpeak Survey. A comprehensive survey which gathered the views of over 160,000 young people around the world and made them voice their concerns for the communities they live in. The survey aimed to engage stakeholders across government, business, third sector, and education.
At the event 200 students and recent graduates will be gathered at the Academic Centre of Natural Sciences in Latvian University to work on projects that have a significant impact on the world. Representatives of the department for Development and Cooperation from the non-governmental and governmental sectors, as well as corporate sector organizations will be addressing the youth and shall also listen to the voices of young people to shape their plans for the communities in Latvia.
